An Important Business Survival Tip

Today I want to share one of my all-time
favorite business metaphors with you.

It’s come to my rescue time after time
when I feel like I’m not making progress
fast enough.

Plus, it instantly puts me in the mindset
necessary for long-term growth and success.

I hope it has the same effect on YOU!

——————————————
THE ANALOGY THAT PUTS ME
IN THE RIGHT FRAME OF MIND
WHEN I’M BUILDING MY BUSINESS
——————————————

Have you ever been to Chicago?

My son was just there and the Sears Tower
really caught his attention.

He couldn’t believe how MASSIVE it was!

How it practically dwarfed the rest of
the city’s (already impressive) skyline and
how much work must have gone into
constructing it.

So I pulled up Wikipedia to look for a
picture that would refresh my memory.

And before I knew it…

——————————————
I WAS HOPELESSLY DROWNING IN
TONS OF SKYSCRAPER STATISTICS!
——————————————

I’m talking EVERY little fact on the
world’s tallest buildings that you
could possibly think of.

-Total height

-Number of floors

-Depth of the foundation

-Total number of square feet

“DEPTH OF THE FOUNDATION.”

Exactly how far INTO the ground workers
have to dig in order to build these
structures that tower ABOVE it.

Now that caught MY attention!

Because when people gaze at a skyscraper
they crane their necks and look up.

NOT DOWN!

And the most important part of the building
(the foundation) goes unnoticed because
it’s always hidden from plain view.

Let me explain how this relates to your
business by giving you a quick example.

——————————————
HAVE YOU HEARD OF
THE PETRONAS TOWERS?
——————————————

They were the tallest buildings in the
world from 1998 to 2004 at 1,482 feet.

And you want to know something?

They can only rise to this height as
a result of their 394 foot foundations.

Yes, you got that right.

THEIR FOUNDATIONS ARE ALMOST 400 FEET DEEP!

Just think about all the backbreaking work
that went into these support structures.

1) The intricate soil testing and research
that took place to make sure the ground
underneath was suitable

2) The excavation process that produced
the gigantic hole for the foundation

3) The 31,680 tons of high-strength grade
concrete that was continuously poured
into place for 52 straight hours

Believe it or not, it took…

——————————————
AN ENTIRE YEAR’S WORTH
OF WORK BELOW THE SURFACE
——————————————

Before they started on the actual towers!

Now let me ask you a question.

How high do you want to take your business?

Really?

THAT HIGH, huh?

Well, how deep is YOUR foundation?

Have you drilled into the depths of your
innermost self to remove ALL the mental
barriers that could slow you down?

More importantly…

Have you developed the necessary business
development, sales, and internet marketing
skills to support your growth?

If you said “No” I have exciting news!

But hold on, alright?

There’s one more thing I want to add.

——————————————
SIGNIFICANT SUCCESS IS
RARELY ACHIEVED OVERNIGHT
——————————————

It took 5 YEARS to build the Petronas Towers!

(Not to mention, the number of years it took
BEFORE THAT to plan, design, and finance them.)

And the same goes for building a business!

It takes time.

I know this from firsthand experience.

Plus, I’ve dropped close to $100,000.00
on books, courses, seminars, and programs
studying OTHER successful business people.

Educating myself.

Reinforcing my skills.

Strengthening my foundation.

And you know what I discovered?

——————————————
THEY TOO HAVE SPENT YEARS LAYING THE
GROUNDWORK FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS!
——————————————

And just like the foundation of a building
this part goes unnoticed by the public.

All people see is what’s “above ground.”

Which is their successful multi-million dollar
businesses that stretch high into the sky.

Anyways, here’s the moral of the story. :-)

A business based on shortcuts and minimal
skill-development will likely topple over
when the first strong winds begin to blow.

However, on the other hand…

A business based on hard work and time-tested
marketing, business, and sales fundamentals
that are proven to work will stand firm.

And grow — LIKE CRAZY!

——————————————
NOW FOR THE EXCITING
NEWS I MENTIONED EARLIER
——————————————

skills I just talked about…

  1. Ann, I can see why this analogy is such a favorite of yours. It’s so visual and easy to relate to “business building”. Is there a joke in there?

Did you know that business building is also related to dog agiliy?

My daughters have been doing dog agility for several years now and I have come to a better understanding of how to achieve success in my own business just by watching them become successful.

I tell the story in my Squidoo lens. Hope you have a few mins to check it out.

As a RPro member mysef, I whole heartedly recommend your training to anyone looking to experience a real change in their business.

  2. It sounds terrific but I cannot afford $3,000 even if I pay it off. I am no where near making enough money for that. I am sure it is worth ever penny.

  3. Ann,

I am originally from Chicago, and the Sear Tower is definitely an impressive site. Standing in the observation deck is an awe inspiring experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who visits the city.

Your story really resonated with me, and not just because I am a native of that city. I am in the phase of building my foundation, and I can tell you that it is no picnic. But I understand that my efforts are for the long-term, not short term profits.

I just joined the Renegade Breakthrough Mentoring Program, and I feel it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. The support delivered by you and Mike, combined with the incredible community which has developed there, are unparalleled in the in industry. This is what will help me take my business to the next level, into the stratosphere and beyond!

  5. Thanks, Ann.

I have invested a lot in educating myself and training. Sometimes I have wondered about the intelligence of these expenditures. I don’t make much money yet but I sure can spend it on training. My family laughs at me and wonders when I’ll start thinking “inside the box” when it comes to the business model of making more than you spend.

Still, I could never have gotten this far without good training and without fluffing out the areas where I lack skills.

RenPro has been fantastic for opening up new areas for me. I have come to understand social networking marketing and I can implement it easily with the very helpful videos.

I agree that any business builder needs to have good education. Thank you for sharing your metaphor.

  6. Hi Ann;

I too have no doubt that your advanced program
is worth every penny, but as a new member of
The RP pgm one quickly realizes there is much
to learn there first … before advancing into more
    detailed learning.

My hope is that there is some sort of offer once
one completes the initial RP … trying to take on
too much before one learns to walk is counter
productive … but I do realize there is a marketing
    angle at work here also.

Thanks for a great training product in the RPro.

  7. Ann, I just hang on every word you express. You always hit the core. I have been laying my foundations slowly for the past 20 years and am only beginning to realise how strong those foundations are. Even though I was a photographer for over 20 years, my personal passion was personal development (which did reflect in my photography). It was only recently that I changed my career and now have my own business in personal development but it wasn’t until I went through the ‘Niche Marketing 101′ in the Renegade Professional that it all gelled together because that is when the foundation was set with the strongest structural concrete. The sky scraper I’m building is set on a foundation of total Love, Happiness and Support. Everything I have done in the past reflects that and everything I currently do (and will do in the future) is centered around this ‘rock-solid’ foundation of integrity.

Thank-you Ann & Mike for all the little things you do which make a HUGE difference to many people’s lives!!

    To Love, Happiness & Support!

  8. This analogy is terrific. I have used a similar analogy in training seminars. There was a building going up near me that I drove by daily. When they started they put up a big sign with a rendering of what they were building. It took some time for the foundation before anything was visible, yet everyone knew what the end result would look like. It keep everyone focused. And the workers could look at the drawing to know exactly what their efforts would mean in the end.

Know exactly what we want to accomplish gives us the not only the motivation; but is the guide for exactly what steps are needed. Like your analogy, the taller the building, the deeper the foundation.

As a RPro I am positive all the training that is offered is some of the best anyway. I am proud to be a Renegade.

  9. I agree, sounds really something and my block is financial as well. I know if it were really a top priority, as I think it is, I would come up with it somewhere.
Unfortunately, past results are in my way. I’ve spent thousands of dollars with other companies intending success and all I’ve seen is knowledge gained at the expense of a whole lot of money going out and none coming in.
Even the Rengade Professional is a mental stretch, financially, while I attempt to be as patient as possible in the building stage, it’s a challenge.

    Comment by Angie — May 19, 2009 @ 8:29 am

  10. I think the system looks great also, but there’s no way I can come up with that kind of money. I need to make $3000 BEFORE I can spend $3000. Hopefully you will offer this system at a later date too.

  15. Ann,
Love this analogy! Maybe it’ll help me explain to my wife why I spend so much time and money on books, CDs, DVDs, webinars, RPro & Renegade Breakthrough (haven’t told her about this one yet).

One nice thing about the latter is that we can actually start working on the building while we’re firming up the foundation.

  16. My biggest check ever in the US is the april check of $202.00 therefore I cannot afford to sign for the Training now. 17. Hi Ann,
Thank you so much for that inspiring story and example. I have also stood on the observation deck of the Sears building and it did not occur to me to think about foundation that allowed the building to be so great and tall. I love RPro and am very grateful for all that I am learning. You are and Mike are doing a fantastic job in the WAY you present information. Thank you! Many blessings. Linda

  18. Ann, as one who has been in Renegade Pro. for months now, I agree heartily. At first, I thought only of getting enough knowledge to get the cash rolling in; but the more I learn, the more I realize the importance of understanding marketing as well as technology. Friends keep asking, “have you got your business going?” My answer is, “yes, I’m in the business of learning.”
Thanks Ann and associates, for the comprehensive approach to marketing.

    Comment by fNorman Haslop — May 19, 2009 @ 9:30 am

  19. Ann, I appreciate that insight. It reaffirmed that I am doing the right thing. I have been working on my foundation, and as Mike Klingler says “be thorough”. Since all around is the idea that everything should be fast and happen fast you have to go against the common thinking to really put in the time and work it takes to create those strong foundations. Your words made me feel good as it was a validation that I am doing the right thing. Actually, one of the things I appreciate about creating an online business is that it is not a quick gimmick, but actually a full blown career. No one would think they could be a doctor in a week, or even a prize winning cook, or even a good mom, well anything that one is professional at. So, why would you think you can build an online business so fast. Only if you give it “a lick and a promise” but I know that will really get just failure and crushed dreams. The hard work is rewarding and does get the desired end result of success. So, thank you for the encouragement that I am doing the right thing. And thank you for Renegade Breakthrough Mentoring Program. I so appreciate that you are giving us the inside scoop on how to really create that hugely successful business. It is so enlightening! Worth to much more than you charge for it!

  21. Hi there, Ann and Mike the Renegade Breakthrough certainly is something that i hope to progress into. As i have only just become a member of Renegade University, i really cannot afford the $3000 at this point. I am, on your recommendation currently building my SBI.
I look forward to the day when i can join you both in these bigger ventures.

  22. This was a great analogy! Since my husband has been in the architectural design industry for nearly 20 years, I truly understand that strong, sturdy buildings require solid foundations. In addition, you are required to have plans before you begin building solid foundations as well as having the “right tools and materials”. The same can be said in order to build a successful business you also need a plan, the “right tools and materials”. Being a member with Mike and Ann’s programs, I fully understand we have the “right tools and materials” to have a successful business. It is up-to-us to implement a plan in order to see our success flourish.

Thank you Mike and Ann for ALL of your knowledge and support. YOU BOTH TRULY ARE INSPIRATIONAL!!!

  23. Hello Ann,

I appreciate the way you take time to explain stuff so even “us - the beginners” understand what you are talking about. I agree with every thing you said. I guess it is a fact of life that many of us want to enjoy the benefits without sweating too much. Same concept as winning a million dollars without knowing what to do with it. It’s just a matter of time before it disappears beforehand. I’m still in the implementing phase of Renegade Pro. and I’m enjoying every step of it.I believe in you guys and I know that by doing what you recommend, I TOO WILL MAKE IT!! Keep up the good work!

    Comment by Lilian Jacobsen — May 19, 2009 @ 10:58 am

  24. Ann,
I love you programs, I know you must first invest into yourself and I agree with your analogy. The challenge for me is time. I did not finished my 1st month Renegade Pro tasks yet, and just study Renegade Pro and applying it take all my spare time I invest into my business…and I invest 9 hours a day , 6 days a week in my business, which not everybody on my team can afford… so, Ann, time management, leverage and delegation of the work load is probably very actual challenge to solve. Will you help me with this challenge?

    Comment by Alena — May 19, 2009 @ 11:01 am

  25. Thanks, Ann, for the meaningful analogy. I’m gradually building the foundation needed and I really appreciate the help that you (and Mike) give.
I’m not able to afford the price of RB at this point but will build with what I can afford. I’m happy to be part of RP.

    Comment by Alan Pence — May 19, 2009 @ 11:03 am

  26. Ann, This is exactly what I needed today! I have a tendency to want to focus and work until I get results…you have reminded me to breathe and be present. Thank for the helpful reminder by way of a great story! You are so appreciated!

  27. Hi Anne,

Great analogy you made between Sears Tower (and Petronas Towers) and building the foundation of your business.

The same principle applies for educational leadership.

I recall that as a first year 5th grade teacher, nearly 9 years ago, I was constantly creating lessons plans. And there wasn’t a night (besides Friday night) that I didn’t take home my plans to revise them, tweak them, add multiple resources, locate original documents, create visuals and other models for the students who had specific learning preferences or challenges. Often times, I would just have to learn the material myself so I could intelligently present something useful for the students.

It wasn’t an 8-4 job. I had to “live it.”

*(oh sure, there were the plans from the teacher manuals, but those weren’t “my” plans, and another metaphor, if I were to use those teacher manual plans to teach students, that would have been the equivalent to using the latest and greatest lead generation system to generate leads for me).

I often had the feeling during that first full year, this isn’t what I expected. In fact, if it weren’t for the thrill and passion I had being a teacher because it was who I was - it resonated with me deeply - I may have not returned for my second year.

There were struggles managing troublesome student behavior; there were lessons that just didn’t go the way they should; there were over zealous parents to cope with and there were many administrative protocols I had to learn.

I remember well…coming home at 7 pm, eating and falling asleep on the couch in exhaustion, and waking up in a panic later because I wasn’t ready for the next day.

I have went through all of those things in the previous year as someone who is using Renegade Professional to build a business.

And let me tell you, the struggle is worth the effort. It gets easier. It becomes more natural.

By my second year, I was able to use many of the lesson plans and materials I had created the year before, only now I had the benefit of hindsight and knew new tricks that made things not only easier, but more effective and efficient.

That’s the way it is, I think, when it comes to building a business online.

Now there is Renegade Breakthrough to help facilitate that experience; enhance and create a culture that nurtures it.

    Exciting!

    Eric Walker

    Comment by Eric Walker — May 19, 2009 @ 11:22 am

  28. I have been one of the slow starters in the Renegade Breakthrough Program and I rationalize that i am “building my foundation”. So this metaphor hit me squarely between the eyes, during a week when I am finding it difficult getting up to speed and where everything else happening in my life is taking me away from the office.

Summer in the north woods for me and my family means digging and planting the garden (temperatures are still in the 40’s many days), and opening, repairing and cleaning our resort cabins for our fishing families’ vacations, livery inspections, etc, etc.

I will get back to my internet network marketing, but it is good to know that I am building on a firm foundation that will withstand the test of time. Thanks for all your support!

  33. That’s all well and good but it all takes time! Just buying it won’t make you your business a success. You need to put in the time to learning all the new skills. There are business models out there that this foundation that you talk about does not take all that time to build. Success can be achieved before hope is lost. Do your research on the business model you choose. There are other options to MLM’s.

Truth be told, Ann you opened my eyes after nearly 5 years of struggling & thanks for that. NOw with Renegade pro I am learning and building my foundation deep because I want to build it high.

  38. I can see how building a foundation is key. I can also start to see results from just joining and following the RP training. The biggest lesson here, though is start with a free book establishing yourself as an expert, upsell into another product that’s just a small investment, sell those people into a monthly membership and upsell those people into a big ticket item.

Now if we can only do that with our primary opportunities. I can see how servicing the huge amount of people in these opportunities who are averaging a miniscule amount with dreams of huge incomes can easily become a great source of revenue and therefore we take the same example and apply it to each of our own opportunities.

  40. Beautifully said Ann!

This is the point I’ve been trying to convey for the last 6 months or more. Yet, not so poingnently as you just did.

When you hear that someone made BIG money this month, this week or today… it’s not an overnight success much as some would like you to believe it is.

What they don’t tell you is the weeks, months and in some cases years of work that went into preparing their business to make that BIG Money.

The beautiful thing about Renegade Professional and Renegade Breakthrough is how it shortens the learning curve. Helps you to lay that foundation deeper, faster, stronger than you can in any other way!

  42. Hi Kweku,

I want you to know that the Renegade Breakthrough Mentoring Program is very applicable to offline businesses. Just this weekend I met an extremely talented business woman who is running a very successful cigar “brick and mortar” business.

What I liked about her most was her educational approach and strong customer focus. What amazed me though is she has absolutely no online presence. None! (Whoops, except she does have an email account.)

All I could think was what an absolute gold mine she is sitting on (all the knowledge in her head) if she took her business online.

To be honest I haven’t been able to stop thinking about her since. It would be so much fun to help her with the marketing of her business and help her (and me) make a mint. :-)

There is that much potential with this lady.

But… I did tell her a little bit about my business and that I would send her a copy of The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto.

So to answer your question… yes, yes and yes!! This is a business development program to help anyone with their business.

I say bring on the “traditional” brick and mortar businesses. They need our help.

  43. Thank you so much for the analogy today. Your information has been wonderful. You and Mike are such an inspiration. I also just cannot afford the $3000.00 at this time. My credit card is maxed out. I have been in MLM for 20 years and as of yet have made very little income. Since being introduced to the Renegade Professional I have focused strictly on that.
I am working step by step in listening to the webinars and following each step.
Mike is great doing the Webinars. Thank you for all that you have done for all of us. You are so appreciated. Your Friend Dorothy Hinton

  44. Ann & Mike,
As an intern at Renegade Breakthrough I truly appreciate your analogy. For some reason many of us believe that building a business on line should be easier and produce faster results.Whenever we get frustrated we should reread your post and give ourselves a shake.
You and Mike have invested a lot ,both time and money to build this fantastic opportunity for others. However,we have to realize that although you have created a program that guides our way, it is up to each individual to do the work and build their own strong foundation and business using the tools that you provide.
Thank you for all you do.

  45. Building Strong Foundations. So true! The affiliate marketing foundation I started 5 years ago with SBI, financially, fully supports me now, (exclusive of my MLM incomes - which are good too). I’ve seen so many fail to make an income because they “want it now”. So good to see Renegade teaching same principles. The Tortoise wins the home business race EVERY TIME. Plod On!

  48. Hi Ann,
I love your advice to Kweku (coloured green above). Your action was a great example of off line NM - and demonstrates that in NM you can continue to strengthen the foundations beneath your present business so you can build it even higher. Thank you for the analogy in this blog and the reopening of RPro etc.

  49. Ann and Mike,

I get a little depressed every time I read another email from you both that offer some incredible product that will being so much hope and success to us weary Internet travelers.

I believe so much in Ann and Mike’s Mentorship program that if I had a place to live for the next 6 months, I’d sell my motor home so I could afford to be in there new up coming class. The bottom line is always ‘money’ not desire.

Yet, I do get real comfort in knowing someone out there can afford their prized mentorship program and with Ann and Mike’s coaching they will find the freedom they so much desire.

Ann and Mike have for the first time that I have found anywhere on the Internet, leveled the playing field. Now anyone wanting to fulfill their desire to become financially independent, can!

Their other new program, The Renegade Pro has become my Star Ship in finding success without throwing tons of time and money into the black whole of the Internet.

If you haven’t yet read Renegade Manifesto, what are you waiting for? Ann will sell you on attributes of Attraction Marketing verses the Old School ship that leads you to the evil Internet black hole. Her clear and truthful Ebook will spell out the rode map to your Internet success.

Ann and Mike have paid their dues on the Internet. Now they offer a full proof system to success. Whether you are a newbie or a pro, Ann and Mike have something to offer everyone.

The Internet is like one big black hole sucking the life, money and dreams out of the unwary.

Renegade Pro is the Internets Star Ship to success. This Ship will catapult you past the danger of being destroyed by the evil black hole and on to the success you deserve.

I am now one of the crew members on the Star Ship “RENEGADE PRO”. Even if you can’t afford Ann and Mikes Light Star “The Renegade Breakthrough” The slower but very reliable Star Ship, “Renegade Pro” will get you to your destination safely and on a budget anyone can afford.

Yes, I am a little disappoint I am not riding on the Light Star Ship, “The Renegade Breakthrough” but at lest I do have the Capetian of the Star Ship Mike Klingler and his famous video click by click system to keep me on the right Star chart to success.

Ann and Mike are there to help you. For me that is enough.

  51. I posted a similar “article” elsewhere but wanted to share an adaptation of it here too because I believe this may help take the mystery out of ‘what is missing’ when business and money don’t come easy for you (yet).

It started as a response about how to acquire duplication.

    ————————————————

There’s something I’d like to share about building an organization (network marketing or otherwise) and creating “duplication” or multiplied growth in business…

(This is the TRUE magical piece to making more money than you need, by working a lot less than you do right now)…

    ————————————————-
People respond to a person’s confidence, attitude and leadership more than anything else in business. It’s known as “influence.” This is what creates duplication or multiplied growth.
    ————————————————-

When you know how to ‘make things happen’ in business (and can create partnerships that multiply your earnings in days, instead of years); when you understand the deeper principles that bring successful people together to work as a team; when you KNOW business like we teach it in Renegade Breakthrough, people FEEL IT in your presence and in your content (your Squidoo Lens, Ezines, Blog, emails, etc).

    Then what happens?

The caliber of people you attract is impacted. “Star players” become interested in associating with you, doing business with you, and follow your recommendations–

I’m pursued by star players often now, but I can remember when such people would make me nervous if I were to even have the chance to talk with them! I had NO IDEA how to do business with a star player, let alone get them to approach me!

Some of these people have “bigger names” and greater influence than I have, but they want to do business with me because I’ve learned the principles we teach, one-at-a-time, at Renegade Breakthrough.

If you missed it, here’s a link to an article that describes what these principles are that we cover in Renegade Breakthrough:

    http://budurl.com/g4g4

People ask me a lot, “what’s the most important thing I should be doing?”

Whether it’s with Ann and me by enrolling at Renegade Breakthrough, or it’s your “intention” as you go forward with Renegade Professional, developing influence is the #1 most important attribute you want to put your mind on if you’re interested in ever making money in business with ease.

    ————————————————-
If you focus on obtaining influence (which is your ability to attract higher caliber people who want to do business with you) this will create duplication and multiplied growth more than any other one thing you can focus on.
    ————————————————-

Network Marketers often have it backwards–”To get duplication, keep the system so simple that even stupid people can do it.” (I’m quoting my upline here who used to say, “Keep it simple stupid,” or “KISS”. He later changed this to “Keep it short and simple,” which still stood for KISS… because some people were offended by the word ’stupid.’)

I think this famous network marketing motto is completely off base. It puts people’s focus on the wrong side of the fence. My upline who used to say “KISS” made $300,000+ a month, but I didn’t notice one person on his team who he worked with that wasn’t a star player–he attracted them because he knew the principles that make you INFLUENTIAL.

And THAT is why he saw the duplication.

There was a time when I could enroll a lot of people into my organization by working hard all day, every day, at an intensity few would endure for long–The end result was OK, but nothing close to my potential and it wasn’t at all rewarding because I knew I wasn’t tapping into my potential. I knew I couldn’t help others tap into their potential if I wasn’t.

Once I learned the principles we’re teaching in Renegade Breakthrough Mentoring, business became easy. Because I’d been working so hard for so long, I was able to discover the “Missing” principles very quickly once I stumbled onto the first one (I think it took me about 6 months from the point where I found the first missing principle, before I found and applied them all because they interrelate). I was able to do that so quickly without a program like Renegade Breakthrough because I was investing tens of thousands of dollars on coaches and training of all types, while having 15 years of hard knocks experience under my belt.

(((Note I didn’t have enough money to cover the cost of the coaches and training–I used my credit cards and maxed out many of them after applying for more than a person should probably have… I was spending more than I make for sure. I am not recommending everyone does this, not at all. But I share this so you realize I had to make sacrifices… big ones. I had to take risks. These are risks you don’t have to take because we have boiled down tens of thousands of dollars of training and coaching, resources and 30+ years combined experience and put it into a $2800 course.

The coaches I spent tens of thousands on did help tremendously, but none of it was even close to what people come away with in Renegade Breakthrough.

Once I got the missing principles, business became really easy for me. So easy, in fact, I’m now faced regularly with a situation where I have to brush aside opportunities that would net $50,000+ in a month just so I can focus on even greater opportunities I’m still finishing up. I laugh at that now when not so long ago to make 50K in a month seemed like a pipe dream (though I should note I knew the day would come when it would be real, which has a lot to do with why it now is).

Now I even find myself taking time to relax when I know a 3 hour investment (like creating and sending an email) could make me 5K or more. Sometimes I just don’t care about the 5K because it all comes so easy and a person does have to rest from time to time. I have to say it’s a little weird how easy business has become when it used to be so difficult–and it’s all due to the principles that create influence.

It’s absolutely incredible when I consider that I am not any SMARTER and don’t work any harder than I did before.

It’s about having influence, so you can attract higher quality people to your business.

How does one acquire that influence?

I’ve never seen a course like Renegade Breakthrough Mentoring before. It teaches how to develop this influence BY LEARNING and APPLYING principles like how to collaborate, how to ‘think about business,’ and all the stuff outlined in this article showing what we cover in Renegade Breakthrough: http://renegadeproblog.com/2009/05/16/read-this-before-buying-renegade-breakthrough/

It takes the mystery out of it.

Business can be easy. Making more money than you need working less than you do is realistic only if you develop influence. Duplication and multiplied business growth happens through influence more so than anything else you could focus on or acquire. No system, promise or opportunity will replace it.

    Partners in success,
    Mike Klingler

    ————————————————
Renegade Breakthrough speeds you up significantly in acquiring influence, while Renegade Professional gets you set up in your marketing to generate leads, start monetizing and to get a business up and running online.

If you can, enroll in Renegade Breakthrough. If the timing isn’t good, start from where you are and develop from there. You are on the fastest track you can possibly be on if you are doing one or the other. Don’t measure your success by comparing yourself to others. This makes as much sense as measuring your success at the gym to others who may lift more weights than you or who have been training on the cardio machines longer than you. Measure your success by your progress and give yourself time to develop as you would in the gym. Be realistic and you will win.

  52. Hi Everyone

People come to my house and are amazed at the money I’ve invested in books of self development and business.

I’ve been laying the foundation for well over ten years.

But I still wasn’t getting results.

I signed up for Renegade Breakthrough, even though I cannot afford it right now. In fact, I have cancelled my overseas travel plans so I can invest more time and energy into building my foundations.

The ’sacrifice’ IS worth it. I am starting to see the first levels of my personal sky scraper appear about ground.

If you are serious about developing yourself and your business, and you are prepared to commit to highly accelerated learning for six months, then take a look at Renegade Breakthrough.

The results you get from any system wiill depend on your mindset. Although I have studied plenty of resources on Mindset whilst preparing my foundations, I didn’t clearly understand what it meant until I started working with the other interns in Renegade Breakthrough.

As Mike says, if the timing isn’t right to enrol in Renegade Breakthrough, please make sure you do take some other action towards your self development. And when the timing IS right, the right program will appear to take you to the next level.

For me, the right program has been Renegade Breakthrough. Thank you Ann & Mike for developing this, and opening up a new world for me.

  53. Sorry, made a typo. I meant to say:

The ’sacrifice’ IS worth it. After ten years of foundation building, I am starting to see the first levels of my personal sky scraper appear ABOVE ground.

I can’t emphasise this point enough. When you are ready, the right program will appear. Stop and ask yourself why you are learning about Renegade Breakthrough now? Is it because you are ready for it?

  54. Dear Ann,

You always spell things out so clearly and your analogy is a wonderful example of my own course of building a business. It’s taken focused time and commitment to study, learn, and most importantly apply the lesson, even when I have not felt quite prepared.

What I have discovered, is if I had not done the things you personally suggested to me, such as having a platform to begin placing my content & learning the consultative approach, I’d never be in the position of having a lead flow that literally is handed to me daily from a variety of sources. You have never led me astray!

It was nice to know that I always had you there to ‘hold my hand’ when I wasn’t quite sure of what to do next.

I’ve never looked back, Ann, at the old way of building a MLM business. Your mentorship has been outstanding. I remember telling my husband when I first discovered you that I was going to watch ‘this lady’ and stick to her like glue. I certainly wasn’t going to let you out of my sight.

My rewards have been your devoted friendship and unbelievable support. You have truly provided solutions to my biggest problem of finding qualified leads and provided me the knowledge to help others do the same.

Your mentorship program will help many see their true potential and take their businesses to the next level. This online marketing is an exciting journey filled with a few potholes, racing at about 100 mph sometimes, and then stopping at the rest spots, to catch your breath before the journey starts again. I am having a blast!

    Your friend,

    Alicia

  55. Great point Mike.

It all gets back to selling yourself.

The more you invest in yourself,
the more you are worth to others.

The more you put what you learn into action,
the more your business income grows.

    It never fails.

Thanks for shooting it straight Mike.
It’s about time leaders do more of that.

As far as the amount of money we invest,
I look for the value of what it will do for me.

Last year, when I totaled what I spent on my online training compared to what I earned, they are not even close.

I earned over 5 times what I spent, or more clearly, invested in myself. This year it may be as much as 10 times or more my investment.

Where can you get that kind of ROI in the investment world?

But this only came once I laid down my solid foundation.

What I see many times that I believe causes failure are people who go with the wind. They are always changing what they are doing when a new idea comes along.

This is not how you build a solid repeatable income. Stay focused for the long-term doing one thing great and get help from those who have already done it.

  56. Alicia,

It’s so good to see you here in the blog. You know how impressed I am by your unfailing dedication and perseverance.

I love your giving attitude. You totally understand the mindset of learning and applying (yes, scraping your knees and elbows along the way) and then “rinse and repeat” go right back in and do it again.

It has been my enormous pleasure to have worked so closely with you over the last three to four years. You are a super star destined for high places.

Thanks for being a major contributor to me personally in so many ways. It is extremely gratifying to see someone apply what I am teaching with such earnestness and desire. That means more to me than you can possibly know.

Can’t wait to see you and Ben again.

  57. Hi Ann & Mike,

Those analogies are spot on. I speak here from experience, in some ways unfortunately. I have had businesses in the past which sere built without knowing a cracker about what I was doing. Very hard and expensive lessons were learnt. A business is only a structure when all said and done.

  58. Mike,

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on influence. I have spent far too many months and years using the KISS principle–trying to hide my light and talents because my mentors in MLM said what I wanted to do and HOW I wanted to do it would not lead to duplication — because people would be intimidated (not influenced) by me.

With your leadership, I know I am emerging from my self-imposed limits to growth and that my business will grow with the business models and mental models that you are teaching and leading. Thanks for that–and for your genuineness, your authenticity and your action orientation.

    Kate Williams

P.S. I’ve borrowed money and gone deeply into debt at times to get the education I wanted and needed. Renegade Breakthrough is a bargain compared to higher ed. People! Don’t hesitate. Use your cards or get a night job or sell your stuff. I’m cleaning houses to pay for Renegade and Renegade guidance will lead to debt free freedom. I know it. Just DO it.

  59. Ann,

Bringing Help to the Traditional Business In My Local Neighborhood!

I wanted to share with you something that has happened recently in my life that I could have never have done before I aligned myself with you and Mike Klingler. This goes along with your traditional brick and mortar businesses!!

Throughout all your trainings and in your book, “The Renegade Network Marketer;” you consistently bring up the point to find your own niche. That was one issue that I had a lot of frustration with; finding out what the heck my niche was!

I want people to know that there are so many niches out there to have fun with and some can be right in your own backyard! Here’s what I mean…..

Where I live, there is a wonderful Italian restaurant that I love. It’s small and family owned and the couple who own it, Mario and Trisha are sweethearts. I visit their place of business weekly and love walking in and having everyone yell ‘Hi LeeAnn!” once I walk in. They have quite a few regulars like me and it reminds me of the show Cheers when we are all there.

Because of the economy, they are hurting for business just like everyone else. Well the brick finally hit my thick head and I thought to myself, why couldn’t I help them out with their traditional business like I am doing with my very own internet businesses.

The first thing I asked Mario was if he had a website for his restaurant and he said they did. This is what it looks like: http://www.viaromapizza.com. I then asked him if he had a book that people could sign when they walked in where he could capture their names and email addresses. He said he had one but never really pushed it. Well, that has since changed!

After speaking with him over the course of a couple hours, I learned what his goals were for his business and I made suggestions as to what he could do to generate more traffic to his restaurant. He began to get really excited and offered some of his own thoughts wanting to know if I could help him accomplish them. This is what we came up with:

    • Redo a website using GoDaddy to keep costs down. He was currently paying someone $200 per year for the website he already had, which was a single page. I got him a GoDaddy website for 16 months at the cost of $54.00 for five pages. http://www.via-roma-pizza.com I was able to create this website for him and add personal touches to it that he didn’t have on the other website. i.e. music, a counter, downloads and a form to join his email list.
    • Build his email list through the Guest Book that people have the option of signing when they enter his restaurant.
    • Sending email blasts to his list alerting them to weekend and monthly specials that we implemented in April.
    • Those on his email list now have the option to forward these emails sent to them to their friends and family as well. Plus anyone visiting his website I created for him can now join his email list from their website.

Since we implemented all of this in April, his business has steadily been picking up and his email list has grown from about 50 people to over 120 so far. I have also placed a counter on his website so he can see his traffic that he’s getting on that as well.

With all the businesses that I see going out of business around my area, it was important to me to help Mario and Trisha keep theirs going. Once again, it came down to the relationship that I have with the two of them and the friends I have made at their restaurant through my repeated visits. You just don’t get that at the larger food chain restaurants!

People have asked me “what do I get out of all of this?” My pat answer is this:
An occasional free lunch ~ Savings $15.00
Free Wine Tasting ~ Savings $20.00
Good friends and the chance to help Mario & Trisha stay in business: PRICELESS!!!

So if are one of those having a hard time finding a niche….think of those around you, you just might find it in your own neighborhood!

Thank you, Ann & Mike for giving me the tools and knowledge to be able to take on something like this and making it work!

    Warmly,
    LeeAnn McVey

  60. Ann and Mike,

I just had to share this with you.

My son, Colin, has been working in a retail store for a couple of months. He has been applying all that he has learned about attractive selling in hand-me-down-fashion from me.

In one shift, his sales exceeded his coworkers’ numbers for the month! So now, looks like he will be double promoted.

But that’s not what I am so excited about.

What did he do? He immediately sat down and created a product - his
“blueprint to sales.” He created a flow chart that shares exactly what he does and says and why. At the heart of it all is really listening to the customer and treating them like royalty.

He had a training at his store and then sent his people out on the floor. Guess what? His system worked when the others put it to the test!

Now he’s planning a training video - heaven knows he’s seen a number of those as I’ve been building my business through Renegade.

So now, as he is working his way up the corporate ladder; he is also using his skills and knowledge to create his first product. And he’s figuring out how to adapt it to other types of stores as well.

If he can get all of that second hand from what I’ve learned from you — just imagine what the people learning directly from you can do!

    From a proud mom –

  61. Thanks LeeAnn & Barbara,

Remember the book Chicken Soup For the Soul? Well those two stories could be part of the Chicken Soup For Renegade’s Series!

It’s so wonderful to hear how this training crosses the limits of MLM and has such an impact in other sectors of business.

At the end of the day the desire to help and serve others is universally attractive.

    Thanks for sharing,

  62. Hey LeeAnn,
Great story of helping out. I may have a way a pizzaria can drive that traffic in their specific area(3 zips ) for the cost of a few pies.

  63. Ann and Mike,

I mean this completely. Thank you for the commit you posted about my frustrations. After I sent you my post I set alone by my computer and re-read every word I wrote. After much thought I felt ashamed of myself for even asking for help.

It came to me just how lucky I am to have Renegade Pro in my life.

For the last 15 years all I’ve done is fight to survive against all medical odds of living. My doctors are always telling me how I am a medical miracle.

Ann and Mike, life means a lot to me. Every morning when I open my eyes I am so grateful for just-one more-day-to-live. No matter how bad my night had been I focus on how I can live a better life today. Isn’t Life great?

Then there is Chiquita my companion and service dog. Every morning she is just waiting for me to open my eyes so she can show me her unconditional love.

I am beginning to feel this kind of friendship from Ann and Mike. You both unconditionally want me to survive in business. Every time I read more about how much you really care for your members it bonds me even more to you.

I believe your members would follow you to the ends of the earth if you asked them to. You have showed them your “worth”. Obtaining influence is how it’s done. Hey, I am learning!

I want to make you both proud of me. So I will fight hard to make my climb to succeed real.

As I reflected on my post to you it came to me how selfish I have become. You don’t owe me anything. Then after reading both you and Mikes commits about all the hardships you have gone through to get to the success you now enjoy, it reminded me of my struggles to get to where I am today with my health.

It is true I have fought hard for life and I can say I am somewhat of a professional on survival. I have paid my dues and if asked how I overcame all my diversities I can tell you “how” without thinking about it.

You and I have traveled different paths with similar results.

Thank you for being so sensitive to my plight! I haven’t even came close to learning all there is in the back office of Renegade Pro. I will survive this as I have survived so many of my health issues. How? By working hard every day and never ever giving up no matter how hard the climb seems.

One day at a time is how I survived every set back with my health. One day at a time is how I will grow my new exciting business. I want this just as much as I wanted to life for just one more day.

Do I still need help? YEP! But first I need to get all I can out of what you have worked so hard to give me, Renegade Pro! It is such a great product. I mean this. When I think about where I was just one month ago its like night and day. Again thank you for your support.

I want to also say thank you to a special new friend on your staff. Barbara! She has really been a helpful person in me understanding what to do. Thank you Barbara for your support.

  64. I love this post and all the feedback it has generated. So many people, in the both the offline and online worlds, understand the principles of attraction marketing but have no idea how to implement it. That is where Renegade Professional and Breakthrough come in.

But some business owners don’t have time to learn and implement everything. That is where we come in! As attraction marketing and small business coaches, we can help entrepreneurs take their businesses online and be more successful. Just like LeeAnn did with her restaurant friend. You can get paid in pizza or charge for your services. It’s truly a win-win situation.

In fact, just this week my brother told me he was starting a new online business and asked me to do some writing for his site. He wants to build a resource library because he wants to provide people with value. He’s on the right path, but only scraping the surface in terms of what he can accomplish by using attraction marketing techniques.

There are opportunities everywhere to help businesses be successful, whether its your own MLM, your own offline or online business, or someone else’s business you can help through coaching. The first step, as Ann explains in her post, is investing in yourself so you have the skills and knowledge you need. It’s a constant process of learning new things and that’s what I love most about attraction marketing.

Thanks to Ann and Mike for all that you to help us, and thanks to a great community of Renegade Professionals.

  65. LeeAnn,

That is awesome. You did an excellent job on that site. Also, such a fine example of niche. We all have our favorite pizza joint or Italian restaurant in our neighborhood. You took the skills that you learned from Renegade and applied it. Smart. This gets my ideas flowing. More and more, I think those people that pay attention and apply the knowledge learned from Renegade Professional will be able to step into ANY niche and produce positive results. Furthermore, this is a great example of taking what you learned from Professional and using it offline and then bringing it back online (hope that made sense).

    Thanks for sharing LeeAnn,

  66. I have been involved in a couple of MLM companies, and I have finally found one with a great product, and opportunity, but furthermore: the product is the star of it all. With Renegade University my horizons have expanded, and the training provided is helping me to imagine the possibility of having a successful home-business.

The feedback here is helping me maintain my confidence with this training program, and I will continue to invest time, and money into my own personal development.

Ann and Mike stated, ” A business based on hard work and time-tested marketing, business, and sales fundamentals that are proven to work will stand firm.”
    I will stand firm!
    Thanks!

  67. Ann/Mike,
I went total immersion with RP RB. It is worth gold to me.
I am progressing through a few stages of learning like never before:
1 Unconscious incompetent. Signed up intuitively. Then the AHA’’s started coming ans still are.
2 conscious incompetent. Starting to learn what I don’t know.
3 conscious competent. Get there when I begin monetizing.
4 unconscious competent. All things come together and I achieve goals effortlessly
Ann/Mike. I’ll never be able to repay you for what you have done for me. Thanks a bunch!
    Conscious competitent.

  68. Wow great article Ann, don’t know I missed this one.I’m a firm believer in building a foundation before you do anything else in business everything around us points to the fact that if don’t have a foundation from which to build upon everything you do in business and life is fruitless.

From the Sears Tower to the ancient pyramids in Egypt and even to many of the successful business that have been around for years the foundation is what has kept them strong even after we’re long gone.

And this all points back to what you and Mike are doing here with Renegade Professional, you’re laying the foundation upon which online business owners will be taking advantage of for many years to come.
